Sucuraj is a picturesque small town on the eastern cape of the island Hvar. The town is a point of departure for ferryboats to the mainland (drvenik). Thanks to the very mild climate and beautiful countryside, many tourists come to Sucuraj. The town is an ideal place for a peaceful family holiday, for enjoying in the crystal, clean sea, beautiful beaches, scents of nature… Guests have at disposal quality accomodation, a hotel, an autocam, restaurants, caffe bars, konoba, pizza places, pastry shops… Sucuraj was inhabited probably in the middle of the 15 th century. The oldest monumental building in Sucuraj is the old Augustan (today Franciscan) monastery. Partially preserved is the old Venetian fortress (fortica) built in 1613. There is the picturesque town square in front of the church of St. Anthony built in 1664. Near the centre there are two beaches: sandy beach Cesminica in the south and Bilina in the north. West from Sucuraj, on the northen coast of Hvar, there are lots of bays with sandy beaches - Vela Mosevcica, Mlaska, Bristova, Pokrivenik and so on. |
