The place on the island which attracts the tourists the most is Lumbarda. It is a small place situated 10 minutes by bus from the city of Korčula. The landscape in Lumbarda is beautiful; olive trees, winegrapes that grow from sand, indented coast, crystally clear sea, the nearby archipelago of 20 islands and sandy beaches that can be found nowhere else on the island. Tourists can get to know the customs of the place through “Lumbarajski užanci”, a mixture of events that make the nights in Lumbarda unforgettable. The inhabitants are mostly employed with agriculture, fishing, and stone-masonry. There are also known summer residences there that belong to the noble families of Korčula. There are also sports facilities for indoor soccer, handball and volleyball on sand. Lumbarda is covered with sand on which winegrapes are grown with high success, and the place is known for its unique white wine “Grk”. The most popular swimming area on the island is also Lumbarda because of its sandy beaches that are ideal for swimming, leisure and drinking coffee.
